The challenge: proving rich content works in Australia

Australia is a fast growing ecommerce market, worth 37 billion dollars in 2024 and projected to grow by another 21 billion dollars by 2029. With 78% of Australians researching products online before buying in store, the product page carries the weight of the decision.

Our partners challenged us to find out whether rich content is as effective in Australia as it is across the rest of the global Flixmedia network.

The test: 17 days, 451,152 shoppers

Working with leading Australian retailers, Flixmedia ran an A/B test of rich content, on versus off, across a range of brands and products. Over 17 days we analysed the behaviour of 451,152 shoppers to measure the impact of INpages on add to cart performance.

The variant without INpages achieved a 7.5% add to cart rate. The version featuring INpages reached 7.8%, a 3.8% uplift. INpages deliver rich brand content inline on the retailer product page, in the most visible position, and the lift in add to cart followed.

Shopper analysis findings

Rich content delivered through Flixmedia lifted add to cart rates across every category on test. The results show where inline content earns its place.

Uplift by category

Beauty led the way at 8.3%. Phone and mobiles saw 7.7%. Computing and gaming saw 4.0%. Home appliances saw 3.8%, small gadgets and appliances 3.3%, home entertainment 3.0% and toys 1.5%.

Smart Syndication insights

Our Smart Syndication service tailors content to audience preferences, boosting engagement and driving higher conversion. One in four shoppers in Australia actively engage with rich content delivered by Flixmedia. Content on Australian retailer pages earns an average dwell time of 66.3 seconds, rising to 78.0 seconds on desktop against 58.8 seconds on mobile.

User generated content had the highest impact on conversion of any content type. If you are building content to compete in Australia, make it a priority.
